Episode 1: Darkness and Fear...

Your wrists burn from the tightness of the rope. They have dragged you on the ground, then tossing you into the caravan. You try to lift yourself up to sit, but you are met with a heavy foot that forces you to the wood floor. "Get up, and I will make sure it is the last time", the stranger said.

You think to yourself, "Where are they taking me? Why are they doing this to me?" Many thoughts come to mind, but none of it makes sense. And what about your friends? They do not know... They will not be able to find you, nor tell your father. Tears well up, but you say to yourself, "Be strong, Iviaena."

You can feel the caravan moving at a slow pace. In the city, coachmen are not allowed to ride fast when Yal kuuv is still rising. Only when it sets, coachmen can move about as they please - they are using this to their advantage so that the authorities would not notice them doing anything suspicious. Even with their garments, who would ever question the holy warriors of the Bawaii Nuu, they are protectors of the Dymais Society - the People of the Sand.

Time has passed, and the heat within this caravan is brutal. A drink of water would relieve some of the pain you are enduring, but it would seem that you have arrived... The final place of your death.

Strong hands grab your arms to lift you off the wooden floor. You can't see anything - there is no opening, no tear in the covering for you to see. Even if you tried to make a sound, your fear overcomes your willingness to cry for help - the cloth around your mouth does not help at all

They carry you into an enclosed space. You hear voices whisper in the darkness. then a door opens and they throw you to the ground. They cut off the ropes and walk away. You can only hear the door close behind. You spend just a few seconds, wondering if they are watching you move. You slowly reach towards your head, touching the cloth. You quickly remove it and find yourself in darkness.

"Not again", you whisper.

You crawl slowly on the wooden floor to find a wall for support. Your weight causes the section of the floor to creak, so you try to move away from the area. You do not want to attract attention.

You reach out in the new direction you have crawled towards and find a hard surface. Slowly, you slide yourself to the wall and sit up to look into the darkness.

No sign of a door or window - everything is filled with darkness. You whisper "I do not want to die... Please Great Spirit, I want my father", as you sob in the darkness. You cry for minutes, slowly passing out from your weariness.

Suddenly, you are awaken by the door slamming on the wall, and a bright light pierces through the darkness. It blinds you, but you manage to see four figures thrown into the room. The door shuts, seeing the light fade beneath it. You hear the moaning of the four, as they tend to their wounds - a voice stands out - it is Atruii.

"Atruii... Is that you?" You say as she replies, "Iviaena... Iviaena is that you? We are all here. I hear your voice, but I cannot see you."

You walk slowly to her, and to the rest of your companions. You embrace and cry together.

"Try to keep silent. We do not want them to hear our movements, or our voices," you say as you hold them tight. "I am the one they are after. They want to use me to get to my father.. I do not know the reason. All I know is that they threatened to kill me if I do anything to escape. What is the time, now?"

"The Yal kuuv is directly above us, so it would be noon", says Tesurr.

"Who are they?" Says Rekell - Her voice trembling.

"They are Bawaii Nuu, but I cannot understand why they would turn on my father, or on any of their people," you say, as you begin to move in the direction of the door. Atruii stops you, "What would your father have that they would use you to get his attention?"

"I do not know, Atruii. We have to find out, and get to my father."

What do you do?
